...traduzindo: animal da praia.

Uma das muitas, esculturas cinéticas da autoria de Theo Jansen - um engenheiro que optou pela arte, um visionário, que se dedica a criar novas formas de vida!

As suas esculturas movem-se fruto da aplicação prática de formulas algorítmicas e pela energia do vento. Esta peça/"ser vivo" é construída por leves tubos de plástico e finos condutores eléctricos. Ao se ver e ouvir uma peça destas em movimento fica-se com a impressão que respira para se locomover. Poeticamente ainda se poderia dizer que o seu coração/pulmão são asas ondulantes.

Do seu Livro "The Great Pretender", transcrevo: «These are not made of protein like the existing life-forms but from another basic stuff, yellow plastic tubing. Skeletons made from these tubes are able to walk. They get their energy from the wind, so they don't have to eat like regular animals. They evolved over many generations, becoming increasingly adept at surviving storms and water from the sea. Theo Jansen's ultimate wish is to release herds of these animals on the shore. In redoing the Creation, so to speak, he hopes to become wiser in his dealings with the existing nature by encountering problems the Real Creator had to face.»
